Construction Update - June 2025
Construction on the St. Albert Trail to 97 Street project is currently underway as part of the Yellowhead Trail Freeway Conversion Program.
Starting mid-June 2025, Yellowhead Trail between St. Albert Trail and 97 Street will be reduced to 2 lanes in both directions, and speed limits will be reduced to 50 km/hr in construction areas to ensure the safety of all commuters and construction workers. This change is expected to be in place until the overall completion of the project in 2027.
Traffic crossovers will be installed in certain areas to redirect traffic.
Planned Crossovers for 2025:
- 124 Street to 121 Street: Starting mid-June 2025, for approximately one year, eastbound traffic will shift to the westbound lanes west of 124 Street and return to the eastbound lanes west of 121 Street.
- St. Albert Trail to 127 Street: Beginning early July 2025 for approximately one year. Eastbound vehicles will be rerouted to the westbound lanes east of St. Albert Trail and return to the eastbound lanes west of 127 Street.
This traffic change will allow construction and the installation of new drainage systems to be completed more quickly and safely.
In addition, 121 Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction starting mid-June until the end of summer.
