Transit Service Changes

Five times each year, ETS reviews rider feedback, schedules, service levels and routes to ensure we’re providing the right amount of service at the right time. Starting December 1, various bus routes will have some service changes, to reflect typical winter ridership patterns.

Route Schedule and Frequency Changes

Routes 1-100: 5, 7, 31, 53, 55

Routes 101-199: 101, 106, 111, 120X, 150X

Routes 500-599: 500X, 504, 506, 507, 509, 560

Routes 600-699: 613, 624, 625, 626, 634, 636, 644, 645, 646, 647, 658, 659, 664, 665, 669

Routes 700-799: 701, 706, 722, 726, 727

Routes 900-999: 903, 908, 909, 910X, 913, 914, 918, 922, 924, 926

New route brochures will be available on December 1. Riders can plan their trips early by selecting a date after December 1 on the ETS Trip Planner and Google Maps.

Service Adjustments

ETS will reassign a number bus bays at transit centres throughout the city to help reduce congestion:

Coliseum - Route 53 will move from Bay L to Bay K
Meadows - Route 504 (Davies) will move from Bay F to Bay H. Route 507 (Southgate) will move from Bay H to Bay F.
Southgate - Route 55 (West Edmonton Mall) will move from Bay D to Bay O; Route 55 (Meadows) will move from Bay O to Bay D. Route 9 (Eaux Claires) buses will move from Bay R to Bay P. Regional buses (such as Rider Express, Canada Bus and FlixBus), will now pick up and drop-off riders on 111 Street, across from the transit centre.
West Clareview - Route 620 will move from Bay J to Bay H.

Route 5 (Downtown) will now end its trips at stop #1393 (96 Street and Jasper Avenue eastbound) instead of stop #1188 (95 Street and Jasper Avenue southbound). This improves schedule efficiencies and will help give operators more options to get to their next route.

Routes 7, 9 and 506 had additional trips added in October to help alleviate overcrowding on these buses

Adjustments were made to the following school service in early October:

Route 664 - A new trip was added to this school route to Father Michael McCaffery Catholic High School from the Cashman/Cavanagh neighbourhoods.
Route 669 - A brand new school route was created to help students get from Keswick to Father Michael McCaffery Catholic High School.
Routes 645, 646, and 647 had their service to Elder Dr. Francis Whiskeyjack School reduced due to low ridership demand.

Route 914 will return to its regular routing in Aldergrove.

Starting December 1, a new On Demand Transit stop will be added in the Alces neighbourhood at 34 Street and Charlesworth Drive southwest.

Route 914 will return to its original routing which means the Aldergrove neighbourhood will no longer receive On Demand service.

Construction & Detours

Due to Capital Line South LRT construction, a number of routes are currently experiencing delays at the intersection of 111 Street and 23 Avenue. These delays are expected to increase as construction intensifies around Century Park Transit Centre. To help reduce delays, the following routes will be placed on long-term detour:

Routes 56, 707, 715, 716 and 717 will detour east on 23 Avenue and northbound on Saddleback Road to Century Park. Riders can board and exit these routes at bus stops #4075 (119 Street and 23 Avenue eastbound) or #4168 (Saddleback Road & 23 Avenue northbound). Routes 56, 707, 715, 716 and 717 operating in the opposite direction will see no change to their routing.
Route 708, heading southbound, will detour south on 112 Street and then east on Saddleback Road to Century Park. Buses heading north from Century Park to Southgate are unaffected.
Routes 56, 518 and 519 will detour north on 111 Street, eastbound on 29A Avenue, south on 109 Street, and east on 23 Avenue. Routes 56, 518 and 519 operating in the opposite direction will see no change to their routing. Riders can board and exit at bus stop #4301 (109 Street and 23 Avenue eastbound) or Century Park Transit Centre.

December 25 (Christmas)	Buses and LRT will operate using reduced Sunday schedules.
December 26 (Boxing Day)	Buses and LRT will operate using Saturday schedules. There will also be additional service on Route 4.
December 27, 30	All buses will run on reduced weekday service.
December 31 (New Years Eve)	From start of service to 6pm, all buses will run on reduced weekday service. From 6pm until the end of service, all transit riders can board buses, LRT and DATS for free. Some routes will also have extended service until 3am
January 1 (New Years Day)	Buses and LRT will operate using Sunday schedules.
January 2, 3	All buses will run on reduced weekday service.
January 6	Regular weekday service resumes on buses and LRT.

All buses will run on reduced weekday service.

January 6

Regular weekday service resumes on buses and LRT.
