Baturyn has been chosen for Neighbourhood and Alley Renewal. Construction began in spring 2023 and is expected to wrap up in fall 2025.

Construction Update - April 2025

It’s the third year of Baturyn Neighbourhood Renewal and we are scheduled to start in April 2025! Work will consist of reconstruction and paving of the roads, removal and replacement of public sidewalk, curb, gutter and street lighting.

This year, the majority of construction will take place along the collector road along 100 Street to 109 Street. Please view this scope map to see the 2025 construction area. Work will also happen in open spaces and along 170 Avenue/108 Street and 168 Avenue/167A Avenue loops.

For those who live in the 2023/2024 construction areas, the remaining landscaping work and deficiencies are scheduled to start at the same time as this year’s construction. Landscaping work is highly dependent on weather and sod availability.

Check out the What We Decided report to see the final decisions made for Baturyn.

If you live in the 2025 construction area, please watch your mailbox for construction bulletins that will provide more information along with details on landscaping and access. All residents and business owners are asked to access their homes and businesses through the back entrances and alleys, where possible, during construction. If no alley access is available and/or you have special access requirements (i.e. DATS or a temporary access ramp to the front of your home), please contact the Construction Project Manager, Stephen Au, 780-220-0946, to coordinate.

Construction in Baturyn Neighbourhood began in the spring of 2023 and is expected to take three years (planned completion October 2025). Neighbourhood Renewal in Baturyn is progressing on time and on budget.

About the Project

Neighbourhood renewal rehabilitates residential roads, replaces street lights, sidewalks, curbs and gutters, and adds missing sidewalk links where possible. Other opportunities to improve how people walk, bike, drive and gather in the neighbourhood, and how they enjoy City-owned parks and open spaces are also explored.

A series of public events will be scheduled by the project team which will give residents the opportunity to build a project vision and guiding principles together and provide regular feedback on the different stages of the project including design.

Alley Renewal

Alley Renewal will be included as part of the Baturyn neighbourhood reconstruction. Alley Renewal involves alley reconstruction and repaving, improvements to surface drainage where possible, and upgrading of existing alley lighting to LED fixtures. Utility assessments and repairs, along with removals and pruning of trees and shrubs, are also completed.
