In spring, the City clears debris and dust from roads, bike lanes and major pathways, making them cleaner and safer for all modes of transportation. The whole process can take up to 8 weeks, weather permitting.
The City of Edmonton’s spring sweep campaign will run from April 7 to June 1, 2025, weather permitting.
Residents are required to move their vehicles so that city crews have plenty of room to clear sand and debris from our city’s boulevards and streets.
Watch for signage in neighbourhoods to know when crews will be on your street or view the Street Cleaning Map for the status of each roadway. Sign up for Parking Ban Notifications for updates on when your neighborhood is scheduled and completed.
A Parking Ban is in effect from 7am to 5pm for each neighbourhood when crews are active. Failure to move your vehicle during the Parking Ban may result in a $250 ticket.

Your area can take up to 5 days to be swept
Residential roads are swept between 7am-5pm on weekdays.
Major roads are swept 24 hours a day and often overnight to minimize the impact on traffic
Street sweeping happens once a year; please take this opportunity to move your vehicles to help crews complete the work efficiently
Street Sweeping Process
Crews first sweep boulevards and hard surface areas adjacent to roads and move sand and other debris into the path of street sweepers
Residential roads are swept during the day
The City has measures in place to minimize dust, but street sweepers can still create dusty conditions that reduce visibility; if you see dust, slow down and drive for conditions
Always give our equipment plenty of space - in front, behind and on both sides
When crews are scheduled to be in your residential area, obey the parking ban and move your vehicles off the street
If you have driveway ramps in front of your home, please remove them so crews have room to complete cleaning in your area
