In spring, the City begins street sweeping which can take up to 8 weeks, weather permitting.
Every spring, the City of Edmonton provides street cleaning services that clear debris and dust from roads, bike lanes and major pathways, making them cleaner and safer for all modes of transportation.
Residents can help do their part by moving their vehicles and providing our crews plenty of room to work as we clear sand and debris from our city’s boulevards and streets.

Street Sweeping Process
Sweep crews first sweep boulevards and hard surface areas adjacent to roads and move sand and other debris into the path of street sweepers.
Residential roads are swept during the day.
The City has measures in place to minimize dust, but street sweepers can still create dusty conditions that reduce visibility. If you see dust, slow down and drive for conditions.
Always give our equipment plenty of space - in front, behind and on both sides.
When crews are scheduled to be in your residential area, please move your vehicles off the street so they can do a thorough job.
If you have driveway ramps in front of your home, please remove them so crews have room to complete cleaning in your area.
Street sweepings are not accepted from private parking lots or non-City or City-contracted equipment. These sweepings can be taken to the following locations:
