Regional Fare options for Students
For post-secondary students who reside outside of Edmonton, most municipal U-Pass transit partners offer discounted commuter passes and tickets.
Arc period passes such as student school board programs (excluding U-Pass) are only applicable on ETS routes. Passes supplied by the Edmonton Public School Board or Edmonton Catholic School board are not valid fare on any regional bus service.
Regional Arc Use
While ETS riders can use Arc to pay their fare on Beaumont, Spruce Grove, St. Albert or Strathcona County buses within Edmonton, only fares paid on ETS buses and LRT contribute towards ETS daily, monthly or annual fare caps. If an ETS rider has not reached the ETS monthly fare cap and travels on one of these regional buses within Edmonton city limits, and taps both on and off within Edmonton city limits, they will be charged $2.75 per trip. The fare paid will contribute towards that region’s fare cap.
If an ETS rider has not reached the ETS fare cap and travels to another region outside Edmonton, they will be charged a commuter rate for that region. The fare paid will contribute towards that region’s fare cap. Once ETS riders reach the ETS monthly fare cap, they are not charged for travel on any regional commuter or local buses within and outside Edmonton city limits.
Please note: Leduc Transit buses currently do not have Arc validators.
Arc period passes such as student school board program (excluding U-Pass), PATH, ETS@work, and senior subsidy program as well as the senior annual cap are only applicable on ETS routes.
