Mackenzie Ravine Boardwalk and Stairs

The MacKenzie Ravine Boardwalk and Stairs will be renewed. Removal is anticipated to begin in 2026, with replacement in 2027.

Project Overview

The timber boardwalks and staircase located within the Mackenzie Ravine near 142 Street and 93 Avenue have reached the end of their service life. These structures provide pathway connectivity through the Mackenzie ravine to the adjacent Crestwood and Parkview neighbourhoods, Buena Vista Park and the North Saskatchewan River Valley.

The existing staircase will be replaced with a new staircase that meets current city standards. Boardwalk replacement options are currently being explored.

Pathway, neighbourhood, and park connectivity will be maintained except for the narrow trail from the boardwalks to Riverside Drive. This will be closed due to safety concerns, such as erosion and bank stability.
