The City of Edmonton collects waste from all Edmonton homes. Depending on where you live, you have either curbside collection or apartment and condo collection. How you sort and set out your waste depends on your collection type.
Your waste is collected in carts and bags at your curb or alley. Find your collection schedule and learn how to set out your garbage, recycling, food scraps and yard waste.
Your waste is collected in shared bins or a combination of shared bins and carts. Find information for residents, property managers and developers.
There are many ways to view your curbside collection calendar.
Use the Find Your Collection Day tool to view upcoming collection dates, get calendar reminders or print a copy at home.
Request a printed schedule by calling 311. You can also visit your local library to print one for a small fee.
If your waste was set out properly and not picked up by 10pm on your collection day, please leave it out and report a missed collection.
Please note: we will not return to collect waste that was set out incorrectly or after 7am on your collection day.
If your alley is closed for construction, please set out your carts and blue bags in a visible location along your front curb. Ensure that carts and bags are accessible by leaving 1 meter (3 feet) of clearance around each cart and 3 meters (10 feet) of clearance above them.
Use our online form to request a cart repair, report a missing cart or exchange your garbage cart for a different size.
If you have trouble getting your waste to your curb or bin, Assisted Waste Collection can help.
