Our 40+ year-old LRT network needs upgrades and maintenance to ensure it keeps serving Edmontonians for another 40 years and beyond.

TLC for LRT was created to help you effectively plan your commute. TLC for LRT projects include upgrades to LRT stations, infrastructure and tracks.

Most maintenance work is scheduled when there is generally lower ridership (evenings/weekends) to help minimize service disruptions to transit riders. However, there may be some weekday and/or long-term changes to help accomplish some projects.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this time. You can find up-to-date information about service impacts on the Alerts, Service Updates page, on ETS social media and on posters at LRT stations.

TLC for LRT Projects

103A Avenue and 99 Street Streetscape and Pedway Project

In 2025, Ledcor will continue to add mechanical, electrical and architectural elements to the interior of the pedway on the section of the tunnel north of 103A Avenue.

Along the south portion of 99 Street, crews will continue to complete the tunnel structure before moving to the north section in late summer 2025.

Work is also anticipated to begin on the exterior entrance “pop-up” near the CN Tower bus loop on 103A Avenue this construction season.

While construction takes place, sections of 103A Avenue and 99 Street will be closed to vehicle traffic and signage will be posted to help pedestrians, cyclists and motorists navigate the area.

More information can be found in our Construction Notice or on the project website.

At-Grade Crossing Rehabilitation

In 2025, crews will perform at-grade crossing track rehabilitation to address aging infrastructure and improve the longevity of Edmonton’s LRT system.

Track rehabilitation will occur at:

  • 111 Avenue and 106 Street(Metro Line) from May 16-20 (Victoria Day long weekend)
  • University Avenue and 114 Street (Capital Line) is anticipated to take place from June 27 – July 1 (Canada Day long weekend)

During the above long weekends, the intersections will be closed to vehicle traffic and the LRT. ETS will have an LRT replacement bus service in place for transit riders.

Harbin Gate

A new Harbin Gate will be built on 97 Street, just north of Jasper Avenue. Foundation footings and landscaping were previously installed as part of the Jasper Avenue New Vision project. Target completion for the new gate is 2026. The City continues to collaborate with Edmonton’s Chinese Benevolent Association (CBA), the City of Harbin and other interested groups on the design of the gate. More details about the new gate will be shared with the public as they become available.

Escalator Replacements

All escalators have been installed. Other work including the Central LRT Station beam rehabilitation must be completed before the final escalator can be opened for public use.

This work helps keep the escalators operating safely and efficiently.
