Corporate Security seeks to mitigate security risks for City assets and contribute to the improved livability for citizens of Edmonton. The unit proactively manages risks through various security principles to reduce the number and severity of incidents.
The Legal Section is comprised of two groups: Solicitors and Litigation. The Litigation section initiates legal action, prosecutes bylaws and provides legal defence in actions brought against the City. Our solicitors review and draft bylaws and contracts and work closely with our clients throughout the corporation to provide daily ongoing legal support.
Insurance and Claims Management provides insurance for the City as a whole, as well as project-specific insurance as required. It undertakes risk analysis reviews and risk control inspections of City facilities to enable other business areas to achieve their objectives. Claims adjusters investigate and resolve claims made by and against the City before they go to litigation.
