Neighbourhood renewal construction in Lorelei and Beaumaris is now complete.

Construction update - November 2023

Neighbourhood Renewal construction in the Lorelei and Beaumaris neighbourhood has wrapped up for the 2023 construction season.

The 2023 construction began in May and was finished in the fourth week of October. The 2023 construction season was a success and we completed all planned construction including:

  • The reconstruction of roads, sidewalks, curbs and gutters, and new street lights in the areas of the  2023 scope map

Some areas in the 2023 construction area still require sod. Once the weather warms up, typically in early May, the landscape subcontractor will be completing the topsoil and sod placement. By waiting until spring, the sod is more likely to establish.

If new sod was installed on the City’s right-of-way outside your home during this construction season, there are some steps you can take to ensure it takes before winter.

  1. Ensure you water it regularly
  2. Avoid using salt during the winter months to defrost the area, as that can kill the sod

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we completed another successful year of neighbourhood renewal construction. Construction in the Lorelei and Beaumaris neighbourhoods began in the spring of 2020 and lasted until the fall of 2023.

Neighbourhood renewal in Beaumaris and Lorelei is now complete.

About the Project

Lorelei and Beaumaris have been chosen for reconstruction. Neighbourhood reconstruction in Lorelei started in spring 2020 with completion in 2022. Beaumaris reconstruction began in spring 2021 with completion in fall 2023.

Neighbourhood reconstruction is a type of neighbourhood renewal that involves road reconstruction and repaving, as well as the replacement of street lights and reconstruction of sidewalks, curbs and gutters. It also includes the opportunity for 2 local improvements, sidewalk reconstruction and decorative street lights.

Alley renewal is also part of neighbourhood reconstruction.
