Kingsway Business Improvement Area (BIA) has been chosen for Alley Renewal and 114 Avenue will be reconstructed west of 119 Street. Planning and design is currently underway.

Starting the Conversation - May 2025

Thank you to everyone who engaged with the Project Team during the Starting the Conversation stage of Kingsway Business Improvement Area Alley Renewal and 114 Avenue Renewal. The online survey closed on May 4. The feedback gathered will be used to help the Project Team understand how you use alleys and 114 Avenue (west of 119 Street) and identify opportunities for improvement.

The public engagement activities and participation will soon be summarized in an Engagement Summary.

A report summarizing your feedback and the final decisions for the project will be available in the coming months.

In Fall 2025, we will provide an update on the project, including next steps and opportunities to stay informed as we move forward.

Working together to make the most of your neighbourhood

This is your city and your neighbourhood. We want to understand how you experience the alleys and 114 Avenue (west of 119 Street) in your neighbourhood and ask for your input on what we might do to make them better. We will engage and work with you on this renewal project. We commit to being open and transparent about how your input is used.

Let’s make the most out of your alleys and 114 Avenue.

About the Project

As part of the Neighbourhood Renewal program, Alley Renewal outlines a cost-effective, long-term strategic approach to renew and rebuild alleys. Alley Renewal involves alley reconstruction and repaving, improvements to surface drainage, where possible, and upgrading existing alley lighting to LED fixtures. Opportunities to improve active mode connections (for walking, rolling and biking) and traffic safety are also explored.

114 Avenue from 119 Street to west of 120 Street will also be reconstructed as part of this project. This will include renewing the road, replacing curb and gutter, replacing existing street lights and completing active transportation links.

During the project, the Project Team will seek community feedback to guide the Alley Renewal process and design.

New alley lighting can be made available through a Local Improvement process, if property owners are interested.
