Five parks in the Balwin and Belvedere Neighbourhoods have been selected for revitalization.

Project Update - December 2024

Construction in Belvedere Park is nearly complete. The coloured surfacing and painted games will be installed on the new basketball courts and surrounding hard surface areas in spring 2025 along with the new basketball amenities. Construction fencing will remain over the winter to protect the newly planted sod until fully established in spring 2025. Tree pruning will take place around the entire park over the winter to improve sightlines and clear deadwood. Selective tree removals will also be completed to improve sightlines south of the community rink enclosure.

Balwin Park - Designs for the new playground and park are being finalized and construction is anticipated to begin spring 2025.

Zoie Gardiner Park - Designs for the new park are being finalized and construction is anticipated to begin spring 2025.

About the Project

The project includes the revitalization of five open spaces within the Balwin and Belvedere neighbourhoods with the focus on safety, accessibility, improved and expanded amenities for social connection and passive use, and improved recreation, play, and cultural activities for diverse users.

The project will include the Planning Concept and Design phases for all five park sites.

The Belvedere Community League is working on a new public park at 12923 64 Street. That park is not part of this project and more information can be found on the community league's website.
