Construction Update - October 2024
The first year of Strathearn Alley Renewal is now complete. Alley reconstruction began in May and was completed by early October 2024. The work consisted of removing the existing road structure, placing a new gravel base, conducting minor concrete replacement and installing new asphalt pavement. Final inspections are now ongoing and any required deficiency repair work is anticipated to begin in October 2024 and be fully complete in the spring 2025.
Construction on the alley located between Strathearn Drive and Donnell Road from 92 Street to 94 Street was deferred until the summer of 2025. The schedule change is to give EPCOR time to move power poles within the alley turnaround. Doing so will allow for alignment and grade improvements in that area of the alley.
The second year of Alley Renewal in Strathearn is scheduled to begin in spring 2025. Alley construction will take place in various sections of the neighbourhood due to the required utility coordination that took place in 2024. To help prepare for the upcoming work in your neighbourhood:

Garbage and Recycle Collection
While your alley is closed for construction, waste cart collection will occur from your front street or avenue. Residents are asked to temporarily relocate carts and recycle bags to the front of your property during alley closures for pick-up on collection days. Carts and bags should be placed in a visible location along the curb or back of the sidewalk, at which point collection workers will manoeuver carts so they can be emptied.
We recommend you identify your home address in the space provided on the carts to ensure your assigned carts are returned to your home after collection.
Alley construction in Strathearn started in spring 2024 and is expected to take two years to complete (the planned completion is fall 2025). Alley Renewal in Strathearn is progressing on time and on budget.
