Alley Renewal in Bannerman, Fraser and Kirkness is now complete.
Alley Renewal involves alley reconstruction and repaving, improvements to surface drainage where possible, and upgrading of existing alley lighting to LED fixtures. It also includes the opportunity for a local improvement to add alley lighting if property owners are interested. Utility assessments and repairs, along with removals and pruning of trees and shrubs, are also completed.
Alley Renewal construction in Bannerman, Fraser and Kirkness is almost complete.
The 2023 construction season was a success. Bannerman , Fraser and Kirkness alleys were reconstructed with a hard surface, surface drainage was improved where possible and existing lighting was upgraded to LED bulbs.
Any remaining deficiencies, including reviewing sod placements from last year, will be completed this spring, weather permitting. Once these deficiencies are addressed, Alley Renewal in Bannerman, Fraser and Kirkness will be complete.

While your alley is closed for construction, waste cart collection will occur from your front street or avenue. Residents are asked to temporarily relocate carts and recycle bags to the front of their property during alley closures for pick-up on collection days. Carts and recycle bags should be placed in a visible location along the curb or back of the sidewalk, at which point collection workers will manoeuver carts so they can be emptied. It is recommended that residents identify their home address in the space provided on the carts to ensure your assigned carts are returned to your home after collection.
Planning and design is nearing completion for alley renewal in Bannerman, Fraser and Kirkness. Details on construction timing and how to prepare will be shared in spring 2023.

The online survey closed on May 23, 2022 and we appreciate everyone who took the time to provide their feedback through the survey, emails and phone calls with the project team.
The project team will review all of the feedback provided, along with technical information and City policies and programs, for consideration in the development of the designs and we will provide further updates later this year.
