Construction on 97 Street from 51 Avenue to 63 Avenue is now complete.

Project Update - November 2025

The City of Edmonton has completed the rehabilitation of 97 Street between 51 Avenue and 63 Avenue. This work was delivered through the City’s Neighbourhood Renewal Program to improve road conditions, upgrade aging infrastructure, and enhance safety and accessibility for all users.

The completed upgrades include:

  • A new shared pathway on the west side of 97 Street, replacing the former sidewalk and improving accessibility for people walking, biking and rolling.
  • Curb extensions at key intersections to support safer crossings, improve traffic flow and enhance on-street parking.
  • Utility relocation to support long-term infrastructure reliability.
  • New concrete curbs and gutters, road paving and road base repairs to extend the life of the corridor.
  • Improved pedestrian crossings and upgraded street lighting, helping increase visibility and safety.
  • Updated property access and landscaping along the corridor.

Construction began in summer 2024 and was completed in fall 2025. The project was delivered in 2 phases, with major pathway and concrete work completed in 2024 and paving, road base repairs and landscaping completed in 2025.

The renewed 97 Street provides Edmontonians with a smoother, safer and more accessible corridor for years to come.
