97 Street from 51 Avenue to 63 Avenue is being renewed. Construction will resume in spring 2025 and is expected to be completed by fall 2025.

Project Update -  March 2025

The City of Edmonton is rehabilitating 97 Street, between 51 Avenue and 63 Avenue, to address deteriorating roads and sidewalks. This project aims to provide Edmontonians with enhanced transportation opportunities and improve road safety for all users and is funded by the City’s Neighbourhood Renewal Program.

The upgrades include a shared pathway to replace the west sidewalk. Curb extensions will be added at intersections to improve on-street parking, traffic flow and safety.

The rehabilitation work also includes:

  • Relocating utilities
  • Paving and installing concrete curbs, and gutters
  • Property access modifications
  • Improving pedestrian crossings and street lighting as required

Construction began in summer 2024 and will resume in spring 2025.
Work completed in 2024 includes the installation of the shared pathway, the installation of all concrete curbs and gutters and street lighting upgrades. In 2025, work will continue on road base repairs, paving and landscaping. The project is anticipated to be completed by fall 2025.
