City Hall Parkade Closure

City Hall Parkade remains closed until all safety upgrades are complete. Parking is available at the Canada Place parkade, EPark zones on-street or Stanley A. Milner Library* parkade. Please contact 311 if you have questions.

Monthly parking is available at the following parkades: Stanley A. Milner Library, Canada Place and the Orange Hub. It is on a first-come, first-serve basis and during times of high demand due to scheduled events, such as the Teachers’ Convention, it is best to plan to arrive early.

Apply for Monthly Parking

Starting June 1, monthly parking permits will be processed through a digital system powered by HotSpot. You can purchase permits using the HotSpot App or the Permit Portal.

How to Register and Pay

HotSpot Mobile App - account required

Open the app.
Press Permits at bottom of screen.
Press Purchase a Permit.
Verify that your city, Edmonton, is correct in the first field.
Press Select a Location in the second field (a menu will pop-up showing all available locations.
If you wish to purchase for next month, select Purchase for Next Month.
The Monthly Permit button below will appear with the amount to pay based on the number of remaining days for the month, for example, if at the start of the month the rate will be $350 plus GST.
- Note: some permits may not be available so the app will not allow you to advance; if so, unselect the feature. Press the Amount button to continue.
The Buy a Permit screen will appear listing information on the permit, location, start/end date, license plate, and total charges.
Carefully review the information. If anything is incorrect, hit the “<” icon at top of screen to go back to the previous screen.
Optional: Press Auto Renew if you want to automatically renew each month.
Select the checkbox to allow the City of Edmonton to access and view personal information related to the permit.
Press Purchase.
Check your email for a confirmation message from HotSpot.

After you set up your HotSpot account and apply for your permit, we recommend taking the following actions:

Enable auto-renew so your permit renews automatically every month until you cancel it
Allow notifications from HotSpot, which alert customers of lot closures and other parking-related impacts

HotSpot Permit Portal - no account required

Open a browser window
Go to htsp.ca/ed
Select Go to the Permit Portal
Select a parking location from display menu; if a parkade is not available for public use, a message will appear on-screen to indicate it is not available
A online form will appear. Select a Monthly Permit in the Permit field.
Fill in required information - name, email address, license plate
Review all information - payment amount and start/end dates for permit will appear in the form
Select the checkbox to allow the City of Edmonton to access and view personal information related to the permit
Select Pay Now
A new form will appear, add your payment information
Select Submit Payment
Check your email for a confirmation message from HotSpot

Cancelling Monthly Parking

Monthly parking permits automatically expire at the end of the month. You may set your monthly permit to auto-renew on the app if you wish to continually use it for successive months.

Corporate Bundle Monthly Parking

A Bundle Account allows you to pay and manage multiple monthly parking permits in one payment.

Requesting a Bundle Permit

To request a bundle monthly permit account, formerly called a Corporate Account, or to make changes to an existing one, fill out the Monthly Parking Bundle Permit form. This will streamline your request for multiple permits, ensuring a convenient and efficient process.

*Please note, if you have received an email from HotSpot confirming you are a Bundle Permit Primary Account Holder, you will still need to validate the number of permits issued by location. If any changes are required please fill out the form.

Requesting a Parking Account

Fill out the Monthly Parking Bundle Permit form
An message will be sent to the email address entered into the form with instructions on how to create an account
Contact HotSpot if you need to change the administrator for the account
You will need to submit a new form if you wish to make changes to the account or you must delete it

Setting up a Bundle Permit in HotSpot

Access your bundle HotSpot account using the Login Window
Enter credit card information and select Save
Select Add Invitation, the button is on right hand side of screen, to add users; enter email address and name and select Add
User will appear in name list on screen
Select Assign Permit located beside name on list; email will be sent to user to activate permit
To remove a user from the bundle, select Delete located beside name on list
Use steps 3 to 5 to reassign a permit to a different user
To change the number of permits, fill out a new Monthly Parking Bundle Permit form

Ways to Assign Permits

By vehicle:
- If user has one vehicle and does not require to change license plates
- User is not required to create an account
By employees/user:
- User uses more than one vehicle, and therefore needs to create an account to select the plate when parking

Claiming a Permit

You will receive an email notice that you have been added to an account; the email address indicated in the notice will be used to access the account
Download the HotSpot app and select Sign In
Select Forgot Your Password at bottom of screen
When prompted, enter the email address from the notice and select Next
You will receive an email with instructions on resetting the password (check spam folder if email is not seen)
Sign into the account using the app
Select Permits from side menu or bottom of screen, a message will appear informing you have been assigned a monthly permit
Select license plate number from drop-down menu and select Claim
Parking administrator will receive a notice you have claimed a permit
You will have the option to add or change the license plate for the monthly permit, but ensure the correct one is used when parking
