Book a tour of the Edmonton Waste Management Centre (EWMC) or a presentation for your school or group.

All programs are booked through our Learn About Waste Learning System. To view availability and register for a program, you will need to create an account and log in.

Environment Week Tours

Starting June 3, the City will be hosting 7 tours of the Edmonton Waste Management Centre (EWMC) as part of Environment Week. These tours will give residents a behind-the-scenes look at how garbage, recycling and food scraps are collected and processed, and discuss the ways residents and the City work together to protect the environment.

Tours are free and open to residents over the age of 9. Spots are limited, so sign up today by emailing wastesupport@edmonton.ca or calling the Waste Hotline at 780-496-5698.

For residents who aren’t able to drive to the EWMC, select tours on June 3 and 7 include an option to be picked up and dropped off by City transportation at the Clareview Transit Station.

EWMC Tours

Ever wondered where your garbage, recycling and food scraps go? Join us for a unique opportunity to tour the Edmonton Waste Management Centre. These 2-hour tours provide an in-depth look at what happens to our waste and how we can work together to send less to the landfill.

Tours are free of charge. Groups larger than 15 people must provide a bus for the tour.

Waste Warrior Academy eLearning Program

Audience: Grades 4-12/ Ages 9+/Interested Adults

Do your students have what it takes to become a Waste Warrior? Filled with activities, videos, quizzes and Waste Warrior Mission challenges, this eLearning program takes students on a journey through Edmonton’s waste system. They will learn all about the waste they produce, what happens to it, and how positive waste choices and actions protect our planet.

This program can be done at your own pace and is free of charge. It has 5 units that each take approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes.
