There is a lot to learn about composting at home, but you do not have to know it all to get started. Learn as you go and explore these opportunities.

Pumpkin Smash

Location: Clareview Recreation Centre, west parking lot
Date: November 2, 2025
Time: Noon-3pm

Pumpkin Smash is back! After Halloween, hold onto your pumpkins and come out to drop, bop and even catapult them. Waste staff will also be on site to give demonstrations of garbage trucks and teach residents about home composting.

Compost School Upgrades

Compost School is growing to serve residents better and will be temporarily closed to allow Waste Services to update the site. An announcement will be made when the facility reopens.

You can take your food scraps to an Eco Station during this closure.

Workshops are held at City of Edmonton facilities.

Workshops at Compost School are paused due to ongoing construction at the John Janzen Nature Centre.
