Invite ETS into your classroom to help introduce students to the many ways public transit can benefit them and their communities.
ETS has a number of programs for schools, students, parents and teachers that help inform and encourage youth ridership on public transit.
To register for any of these programs, please contact ETSRiderEngagement@edmonton.ca with your preferred dates and times.
Please note, while we will try to accommodate all requests received, there may be times when we can not accommodate a request due to limited staff or equipment availability.
ETS 101 Travel Training
For: Grade 6 students
When: fall and spring
Thousands of junior high school students use ETS to get to school every year. Before they board a bus for the first time, grade 6 students can learn to ride the bus with guidance from an ETS travel trainer.
In this immersive experience, students will visit a chartered bus at a nearby bus stop to learn about:
- rider etiquette
- how to wait for, board and exit the bus
- transferring buses at transit centres
- safe people to talk to and general safety while using the transit system
School Open House Events and Meet the Teacher Nights
For: Junior and senior high schools
When: Fall and Spring
Transit service is a factor many families consider when choosing a junior or senior high school. ETS can provide resources and staff at Open House and Meet the Teacher nights to help answer questions parents and students have about taking transit to school.
ETS Stuff a Bus
For: All schools
When: late November to early December
Every year, ETS partners with Save-On-Foods to encourage Edmontonians to support Edmonton’s Food Bank by stuffing a bus with food donations!
In 2024, the ETS Stuff a Bus campaign was expanded to include food drives organized by students at Edmonton schools. ETS buses visited the participating schools, where students filled them with donations they collected. This initiative helps promote giving back to the community while offering students a chance to engage with a city bus.
