A Lot Grading Plan has been a part of the approval process all non-residential (commercial, industrial, institutional) developments, large-scale residential developments (apartments, row houses and other residential developments with multiple buildings), mixed-use (a mix of residential and non-residential) developments, and temporary structures such as storage sheds and sea cans since 1993. The plan is required for new developments and approved by the City of Edmonton, Development Services on behalf of the City Manager.

This plan specifies design elevations, surface gradients, swale locations, and other drainage information required for lot grading. The approval of this plan provides an effective basis for lot grading control which will establish the drainage relationship between adjacent properties.

The example drawings of Lot Grading Plans for multi-unit residentialtypical commercial, and shopping centre developments provide general information of what should be shown on the plan (for reference only).
