With 12,000 square feet of event space to utilize, the River Valley’s newest park’s Event Centre offers extensive natural lighting from overhead doors, space for events up to 1,000 guests, integrated audio-visual equipment and outdoor event space with a coveted view of the lake. With barrier-free entry and a stunning location, the Northeast River Valley Park Event Centre is hard to beat.

This 190-acre park is located at 17 Street NE and 153 Avenue NE.

Rentals and Bookings

SOCAN and Re:SOUND

If you are planning a special event that includes live or recorded music of any kind, you are required to pay licence fee to SOCAN and Re-Sound. The Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN) and Re:Sound Music Licensing Company (Re:Sound) are collective societies. These collective societies can charge tariffs for the performance of music in public, according to section 19(2)(a) of the Copyright Act.

Commercial Kitchen

The AHS-certified commercial kitchen is available for booking on its own or as part of your Event Centre booking. Kitchen-only rentals are available for licensed caterer event use and are subject to the availability of the Event Centre.

Guests are welcome to book the licensed caterer of their choice. Commercially-prepared food is permitted to be served for event bookings. Home-cooked or home-prepared meals are not permitted in the Event Centre. All kitchen rental usage requires payment of a damage deposit.

Alcohol Service and Bar Use

Alcohol must be managed by a bartender provided by the events caterer or organizers. All bartenders are required to have ProServe certification. All events with alcohol service are required to obtain a valid liquor license.

Note: Depending on event details, additional facility hosts may be required. This will be at the discretion of the venue. Charges will apply.

Outdoor Bookable Locations

If the Event Centre is not the right fit, Northeast River Valley Park has two other scenic outdoor spaces available for rentals. The Forest Amphitheatre features rustic wood benches, a large grated fire pit and a raised platform ideal for interpretive or ceremonial use. The Barn Bridges are iconic to the park. The west bridge is available to be booked for more intimate gatherings of up to 30 people. Located on the west of the playground island, get exclusive access to the bridge for the duration of your booking.

Both spaces are available for photography and ceremony bookings.

Frequently Asked Questions

What type of events will be permitted?

The event centre will be suitable for a variety of conferences, events, festivals, weddings and celebrations. Contact us to see if this venue is the right fit for you.

Can I book the barn bridges?

Yes. The west bridge is available for bookings for photography sessions and weddings of up to 30 people. The east bridge remains open to the public for access to the playground island.

Can I book outdoor spaces?

Yes. Outdoor spaces can be booked through Civic Events & Festivals for events and festivals and groups larger than 50 people.

Picnic sites are not available for bookings at this time.

I am a business / group owner. Can I book out spaces for my business?

At this time, long-term commercial uses are not available. Consideration for short-term or mobile opportunities may be considered starting in 2024.

Is the commercial kitchen inside the event centre available to be booked?

The kitchen is available for bookings associated with the usage of the Event Centre or park spaces. Bookings are available to event organizers and their desired licensed caterer.

Can I film in the park? Are drones permitted?

Personal photos and videos taken with cameras and phones are permitted in the park. Videos and photos intended for commercial use of businesses or by the media require a film permit.

Permits are required for all drone use. Drones cannot be launched or used in the park without a permit in advance of filming.
