Senior Transit Fares

The senior subsidized transit pass renewal deadline has been extended to January 20! If you haven’t received a notice to renew, call the Edmonton Service Centre at 780-423-7433 or email etsseniorpass@edmonton.ca.

Senior fares are available to those who are 65 years and older. See Arc Information Guide for Seniors.

There are two types of ETS annual passes available to seniors.

Senior fare riders in Edmonton who pay regular fare. These riders do not need to apply to ETS to receive a seniors’ regular annual transit pass. Instead, they will receive an annual fare cap of $385 which is the same price as the annual pass. Once they reach this amount they can ride ETS for the rest of the year for free.
Seniors who participate in the subsidized ETS senior annual pass program (free and $139, dependent on income level). These riders need to apply for the program. Once you have applied and been accepted into the program, you will need to renew your pass each subsequent year.

Regular seniors annual fare cap and the subsidized seniors pre-loaded Arc cards are only valid on ETS. Riders can travel on regional transit by paying the applicable regional fare.

ETS paper senior tickets and monthly passes are no longer available for purchase. Pre purchased senior tickets with an expiration date of December 31, 2023 will be accepted as valid fare until the end of 2025. Switch to Arc today at myArc.ca.

Senior Annual Pass Application Form

How to Apply (First-time Applicants)

Seniors applying for a low income annual pass must provide proof of age, Edmonton residency and income. Proof of receipt of this benefit is required for first time applicants only.

Must have at least 1 of the following for proof of age:

Driver’s licence
Alberta Government identification card
Alberta Health Care card
Permanent Resident card

Must have proof of residency such as:

Driver’s licence
Documentation containing a name and Edmonton address (bank statements, utility bills, phone bills)

Must have a copy of 1 of the following for proof of income:

2023 T4A (OAS) (if box 21, net supplement paid, shows any amount above zero)
Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) letter of eligibility from the Government of Canada
2023 Notice of Assessment (line 15000, taxable individual income must be below $30,265)
Permanent Resident or a refugee (to qualify, you must have been in Canada less than one year and have not filed a tax return)
Proof of government Employment Insurance (EI) being received in past three months
A copy of your Health Benefits Card within the last three months showing receipt of Income Support benefits

Personal information is collected for the purpose of applying for an ETS Seniors Annual Pass and will be used to determine eligibility. Collection is authorized under section 33(c) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act and is managed and protected in accordance with the Act. The documents you submit will be destroyed after verification.

When can I get my Seniors Annual Pass?

For the Seniors Annual Pass, there is no prorated cost. It will remain the same cost, no matter what point in the year you purchase the pass.

What if I have mobility issues?

The Edmonton Service Centre is on the second floor of Edmonton Tower and is accessible by elevator and an escalator. Refer to the new applicants section for instructions on how to apply by email or phone.

What do I do if I never received my Senior Pass Renewal form or my pass in the mail?

Please email etsseniorspass@edmonton.ca.

What do I do if I lose my Arc card?

If your card has been lost or stolen, please call 311 or by visiting an in-person service centre to have the card blocked and to request a replacement.

I want to change my address/phone number or have questions?
