What is a Recall Petition?

The Municipal Government Act (MGA) allows electors to petition to recall a member of Council through a specific process.

Those wishing to submit a recall petition under the parameters set out in the MGA should seek legal advice, when possible, to fully understand the extent of their obligations.

When can a Notice of Recall Petition be submitted?

For the current term of Council, a notice of recall petition may be submitted between: April 24, 2023 through December 31, 2024.

A Notice of Recall Petition can not be submitted within the 18-month period immediately following an election or as of January 1 of the year of a scheduled general election.
