There are several ways for eligible voters to vote in the 2025 Edmonton Election, including advance vote, special ballot and on election day.
Special Ballots
Eligible voters can apply to vote by special ballot if they are unable to vote during advance voting or on Election Day.
Register / Update Online
You will need an Alberta Driver's License or an Alberta Identification Card for each individual you wish to register or update.
Other Ways to Register or Update Your Voter Information
If you do not want to update your voter registration information online, you can:
- Email Elections Alberta at info@elections.ab.ca
- Call Elections Alberta at 780-427-7191
- After August 15, you can update your information in person at your assigned voting station during advanced voting or on Election Day, or when voting by special ballot
The permanent electors register is a record of electors who are eligible to vote in municipal elections. The City of Edmonton’s permanent electors register is compiled using data from the provincial register of electors.
Find out if you are registered to vote by checking your status on Voterlink.
An Alberta driver's licence or Alberta Identification Card is required to register on Voterlink.
You can still vote at any voting opportunity so long as you provide accepted identification with proof of your name and address. A full list of acceptable identification will be available in the coming months.
The register will collect your:
- First name, middle initial (if applicable), last name
- Date of birth
- Physical address, mailing address (if different)
- Your eligibility to vote in either the Edmonton Public School Division or Edmonton Catholic School Division.
Your privacy is important to us. The City of Edmonton manages the permanent electors register in accordance with the Local Authorities Election Act. Elector information on the permanent electors register may only be used by Edmonton Elections to administer the election. Candidates and their representatives are not permitted to access or use the register for any reason.
While Edmonton Elections maintains the permanent electors register for the City of Edmonton, Elections Alberta is responsible for the provincial register of electors and operates Voterlink (the online voter registration system). Edmonton Elections is required to share elector information collected during the 2025 Edmonton Election to assist Elections Alberta with maintaining the provincial register of electors.
Information on the provincial register of electors is managed according to the Election Act and other provincial statutes, and may be shared with provincial political parties, members of the legislative assembly and others, as required by law.
It may take up to 15 days to register or update your information via Voterlink.
The deadline to register or update your information before voting begins for the 2025 Edmonton Election is August 15, 2025.
If you are unable to register, update, or confirm your registration by August 15, 2025, you can do so at your assigned voting station during advance voting or on Election Day, or when applying to vote by special ballot.
To remove your name from the register, contact Elections Alberta at info@elections.ab.ca or call 780-427-7191. You will be required to provide your full name, date of birth and complete physical address.
After August 15, 2025, please also email Edmonton Elections at elections@edmonton.ca with your full name, address and date of birth so you can be removed from Edmonton Election’s permanent electors register.
