Lighthouse is a technology solution that tracks the proliferation of hate symbols.
Casting light on symbols of hate
It is often difficult for law enforcement and community workers to identify and track the various symbols encountered in the field and relate those symbols to wider patterns of hate.
This critical identification and tracking need is growing in tandem with the ever-evolving crisis of racism and hate - creating difficulties for frontline staff and the areas they serve.
In partnership with the Anti-Defamation League (ADL)
We have created Lighthouse, a technology solution to support our fight against hate symbols.
Lighthouse consists of 3 interrelated tools:
Lantern
Lantern by Lighthouse is a phone application used to collect data. It allows frontline workers to photograph and upload images of potential hate symbols. All images are stored securely, along with the time the photo was taken and its location.
Gallery
Gallery by Lighthouse is a web application used to analyze the data submitted. It facilitates the review and categorization of pictures taken with the Lantern application. Supported by the ADL’s Hate on DisplayTM Hate Symbol Database, Gallery plays a central role in the fight against hate.
Watch
Watch by Lighthouse is a dashboard designed for decision-makers. Watch brings it all together—highlighting hate symbols, the place and time they were recorded and emerging patterns that provide the insights needed to inform meaningful actions.
