The John Walter Museum is located right in the heart of Edmonton’s river valley in Kinsmen Park. As an accredited museum, the site interprets the life of John Walter and the Strathcona community of Walterdale from 1870-1942.
The park has walking and biking trails, picnic sites, a playground, an outdoor pool and the Kinsmen recreation centre.
Enjoy a variety of experiences ranging from self-guided tours to large community events that celebrate historical activities. Take part in a tour, learn pioneer skills that will enhance your modern life, or simply enjoy light refreshment on a picnic blanket. Spend a day with us and experience life in Walterdale.
The John Walter Museum is closed to the public for the fall and winter season, except for special events. Registered Programs, School and Group Programs, Birthday Parties and special events are available for booking year-round.
