Partnered Programs 

The City is working with not-for-profit organizations and university/college sports teams to help girls aged 8-17 participate in sports and physical activities. Some programs are drop-in, and others require registration.

For Girls, By Girls

For Girls, By Girls is a free drop-in program designed to build confidence and foster a love for sport and recreation in girls aged 8-17. Each week, participants will engage in a variety of activities, games and skill-building exercises led by student-athletes. Best of all, the program is completely free — no admission, program fees or pre-registration required. Just come ready to have fun, learn and grow!

This program returns in Fall 2025.

Other City-offered Programs and Opportunities

StrongHER
Feel empowered and confident in the gym! Strong-HER is a program designed for all genders ages 12-17 to learn exercise fundamentals, proper technique and programming in a private training studio. Participants will get a Youth In Action card, which grants independent use of the fitness centre, upon completion of the Strong-HER program.

Women on Weights
Learn how to train in a fun and safe environment! Taught by a Personal Trainer, Women on Weights teaches you the principles for training safely and effectively with machines and free weights. You will also learn proper warm-up and stretching techniques to reduce injury risk and improve rest and recovery between workouts.
