The Alfred H. Savage Centre in Whitemud Park makes it easier for Edmontonians of all abilities to pursue nature-related activities in the river valley. This hub for outdoor education and environmental programs also serves as a warm-up and washroom facility and is a great place for the community to gather.
This facility is named after Alfred Savage, a Commissioner of Public Affairs for the City of Edmonton between 1974 and 1981. Savage was a driving force behind City facilities such as the Muttart Conservatory and John Janzen Nature Centre.
The centre is built to LEED Silver standards (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). It uses geothermal heating, water use reduction methods, reflective roofing, exterior light fixtures that point downward for less light pollution and during construction 84% of waste was diverted away from the landfill mainly by recycling material.
Conveniently located in Whitemud Park next to the beauty of Edmonton’s river valley, the Alfred H. Savage Centre serves as a hub for community rentals and events. No matter the occasion, the naturally lit space of our rental facility is suitable for anything from meetings, to corporate retreats, to small weddings and more.
Note: You must supply your own projector, computer/laptop and HDMI cable if your event requires those devices.
