City Farms has an important role in growing fresh, healthy food to help support food security in Edmonton. Five acres of land at our tree nursery has been repurposed to grow food for donation, as well as supporting volunteering and learning opportunities.
Volunteers and City employees work together to cultivate the farm. Then our partners at Edmonton’s Food Bank collect and distribute the food to Edmontonians who need it most. The harvest usually includes swiss chard, kale, corn, carrots, beets, several varieties of squash, pumpkins and zucchini.
