Edmontonians who have submitted their notice of intent to run in the 2025 Edmonton Election and completed the nomination process to appear on the ballot.

Nominated Candidate List

Candidates must complete the nomination process to become official candidates and have their names added to the ballot.

Note: The official candidates list for mayor, councillor and school board trustee will be posted in January.

Register of Candidates

The Register of Candidates is a record of all candidates who have given notice to Edmonton Elections that they intend to seek nomination for office in the next election, but have yet to complete the nomination process. A candidate must submit their notice of intent in order to seek and spend campaign contributions.

To get added to the Register of Candidates list, review how to file your notice of intent.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are there two lists of candidates?

The List of Nominated Candidates includes all Edmontonians who have completed the nomination process and whose names will appear on the ballot. These individuals cannot seek contributions or incur expenses in relation to their campaigns unless they submit their notice of intent to run in the 2025 Edmonton Election.

The Register of Candidates includes prospective candidates who have filed their notice of intent to run, but have not completed the nomination process. These individuals can still seek and expense campaign contributions, but must complete the nomination process to have their names added to the ballot.

My name is on the Register of Candidates and I didn’t submit a notice of intent—what do I do?

Only prospective candidates should submit their own notice of intent. If your name appears on the Register of Candidate and you have not submitted a notice of intent, please contact Edmonton Elections at elections@edmonton.ca immediately to have your name removed.

Is submitting a notice of intent the same as submitting nomination forms?

No. Submitting a notice of intent is one step in the process. It does not mean you are nominated and will appear on the ballot.

To become a nominated candidate and appear on the ballot, a candidate must complete the nomination process during the Nomination Period from January 2 to September 22, 2025.

Is a deposit required to file a notice of intent with Edmonton Elections?

No, a deposit is not required when filing a notice of intent.
