Ward Karhiio - Keren Tang

Keren Tang is proudly representing Ward Karhiio in Southeast Edmonton for a second term. She is a public health advocate, community organizer, city builder and mom.

Keren is passionate about participatory engagement, bringing community perspectives to life and working with diverse communities to build healthier, more connected neighbourhoods. She merges her experience in public health, community development, human-centred design and the social determinants of health with a deep belief in peer-to-peer, neighbour-to-neighbour networks.

Prior to being elected, Keren worked across the public, private and non-profit sectors on urban wellness, civic engagement and health promotion, collaborating with communities of all sizes across North America. She also served on the boards of the Edmonton Community Foundation, the North Saskatchewan River Valley Conservation Society, ASSIST Community Services Centre and the Edmonton Multicultural Coalition.

As a councillor, Keren has served on the Accessibility Advisory Committee and as a board member of Alberta Municipalities and the Climate Caucus. She has championed long-term investments in violence prevention, strengthened Edmonton’s local economy through initiatives like the rejuvenation of Edmonton Research Park, and fostered grassroots decision-making with Community-Based Budgeting to empower Edmontonians to shape their communities.

Having lived in cities around the world, Keren has made her home in Edmonton with her husband and young daughter because it is a city where everyday Edmontonians have a voice in shaping its present and future. She is honoured to serve and work alongside Ward Karhiio residents, businesses, community leagues and organizations to get things done together.
