The 2025 travel survey will help us understand how people get around the Edmonton metropolitan region.

We want to know how you roll!

The purpose of the Navigating Tomorrow Household Travel survey is to collect data on travel patterns to help planners make informed decisions about road improvements, transit services and active transportation infrastructure.

What is the Navigating Tomorrow Survey about?

The survey aims to understand the travel behaviours of residents within the Metropolitan Edmonton Region. Unlike the previous once-a-decade survey (last conducted in 2015), the Household Travel Survey now operates continuously, collecting annual data on household characteristics, demographics and daily travel patterns.

As the most comprehensive source of personal travel data in the Edmonton Region, the survey helps discover how residents utilize various transportation modes, including vehicles, public transit, bicycles and walking.

The data collected will help planners with the City of Edmonton and with regional municipalities make evidence-based decisions for future planning, guide road investments, transit infrastructure and trails.

Participation

Invited households were randomly selected from the greater Edmonton region. You must live in the region and receive an invitation letter to participate.

By sharing your travel habits, you’ll help us understand how people are using local roads, highways, public transit, bike lanes and sidewalks, and how we can improve them. If your household was invited to participate, please get involved because your input ensures that your needs and experiences are considered in regional transportation planning.

The survey is confidential. The data and results collected from this survey will be analyzed as a whole, not individually.
