- Prototyping and testing of a computer-vision-powered prefabrication module assembly system, which stands to increase the precision and efficiency of industrial processes.
- NGT Energy - $100,000
- Developing and testing a non-radioactive, multi-phase flow meter prototype that the company intends to commercialize in North and South American markets.
- OligomicsTx Inc. - $100,000
- Researching, developing and testing of the company’s drug delivery technology in the treatment of a rare muscle-wasting condition known as facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD).
- Optimal Combustion Consulting Services Ltd. - $100,000
- Prototyping of the company’s self-sustaining mobile utility system, which will use renewable energy to provide all aspects of human comfort (such as heat, power, hot water and waste management), in industrial remote work sites.

- Manufacturing and field-testing of the company’s electric vehicle (EV) fast-charger commercial prototype, which can be installed and operated without the need for upgrades to the existing grid infrastructure.

- Integrating artificial intelligence technologies into the company’s current platform, which will enable newcomers to access personalized services provided by local businesses at discounted rates.
- ZerOne Hockeyology - $100,000
- Upgrading the company’s digital infrastructure, and collaborating with a University of Alberta research lab to enhance the company’s data-driven hockey player performance analysis services.
Phase 1 of the Edmonton Edge Fund supports businesses in their efforts to start, scale and grow in Edmonton.
Program Overview
The City of Edmonton has allocated $5 million to the administration of Phase 1 of the Edmonton Edge Fund. Phase 1 of the program is designed to address a current gap in funding available to innovators and entrepreneurs operating in or entering the Edmonton market. Funding will be offered in the form of project-based grants through the following 2 streams:

Please note: Phase 1 of the program was only offered in 2023. The offering of future phases will be contingent on direction from City Council.
