To be eligible for the Community Safety and Well-Being (CSWB) Grant, the applicant is one of the following:
Eligible expenses must contribute to the establishment of new collaborative efforts or enhance existing collaborative work. Examples of eligible expenses may include, but are not limited to:

A collaborative is defined as two or more organizations that are currently working together or planning to work together in a way that is focused and mutually beneficial towards a common goal. Partnerships are more formal in nature with an agreement in place that recognizes shared outcomes, investment of resources, risk, accountability and decision making. A formal partnership is not a requirement to be eligible for this grant.
Yes, you are welcome to apply for multiple projects. However, we are expecting a large volume of applications therefore we recommend that you focus on the project that is most aligned with the CSWB priorities, principles and your organizational mandate.
It is important that you familiarize yourself with both Grant Guides and decide which one is better aligned to your project. The Collaboration Grant is primarily focused on strengthening existing or new collaborations that are working on addressing 1 or more of the Community Safety and Well-Being Pillars.
The Early Intervention and Intervention Grant program is more focused on funding programs that are addressing the specific pillars of Safe and Inclusive Spaces, Pathways In and Out of Poverty, Crime Prevention and Crisis Intervention, and Well-being.
When assessors are reviewing the applications, an application that is submitted to 1 stream, but is better suited to the other stream, will be re-assigned.
Eligible partners for the Collaborative Grant funding can include Edmonton Police Service, First Nations communities not within the boundaries of the city of Edmonton, post-secondary institutes, businesses and others who do not meet the organizational eligibility criteria, however, they should be one of many partners not the singular partner.
Yes, First Nations communities outside of the boundaries of the city of Edmonton can apply for this funding, so long as their primary (75% or more) focus of their proposed program activities are for urban Indigenous communities in Edmonton. A First Nation could also be a partner for a proposed project.
No, the intention of this funding is to provide funding to the collaboration through one applicant. The assessment of the application will consider whether the participating organizations have expressed a written commitment to participate in the collaborative or partnership, that the collaborative advances CSWB Strategy guiding principles, goals and long-term outcomes and that the collaborative can describe why it is needed and how it will address a gap in existing services, and so on.
The Audited Financial Statements that we would want to see are your last approved and signed Audited Financial Statements, in this example, that would be for the year end, December 31, 2022.
Funding requests must be between $25,000-$250,000.
Collaboratives that receive funding must complete the proposed activities within 2 years of receiving approval. The specific information will be included in the Funding Agreement.

From the Guide, equity-based is defined as, “The project/program will incorporate a GBA+ approach to remove systemic barriers.” The Government of Canada has described GBA+ as “an analytical tool used to support the development of responsive and inclusive policies, programs, and other initiatives.
GBA Plus is a process for understanding who is impacted by the issue or opportunity being addressed by the initiative; identifying how the initiative could be tailored to meet diverse needs of the people most impacted; and anticipating and mitigating any barriers to accessing or benefitting from the initiative.
GBA Plus is an intersectional analysis that goes beyond biological (sex) and socio-cultural (gender) differences to consider other factors, such as age, disability, education, ethnicity, economic status, geography (including rurality), language, race, religion, and sexual orientation.”

Yes, a collaboration funded through the 2022 CSWB grant program or other City funding streams is considered to be an existing collaboration. If the collaboration can demonstrate that it is applying for a new phase/component, the application would be considered.
