Background
The Health City Initiative was first announced in the Mayor’s 2016 State of the City address as a new strategy to propel Edmonton as a leader in health-care innovation.
This plan aims to increase access to capital for local health sector companies and accelerate the commercialization of new technologies and products, like the iTClamp, created right here in Edmonton.
Where We Are Today
Since the 2016 announcement, more than 70 leaders in the public, private and philanthropic sectors have come together to bring this initiative to life.
Their strategic plan, now launched, will take a phased, momentum-building approach to positioning Edmonton as a world class health innovation city. With a common vision, the work in Edmonton is being accelerated to the marketplace with the goal of attracting and retaining top talent, funding and partnerships.
