In 2014, City Council initiated a step towards addressing poverty and approved the creation of the Task Force to Eliminate Poverty. This task force produced a visionary plan:
In May 2022, to solidify its commitment towards the plan, EndPovertyEdmonton was incorporated as a not-for-profit. The organization continues to steward system change in relations to poverty in our community and work towards the following updated game changers:
In June 2024, EndPovertyEdmonton announced that it would cease operations and look to "return to its roots as a movement—grounded in community and united in a resolve to eradicate poverty through transformative change."
