The City recognizes the importance of the local economy and is constantly looking for new and innovative ways to support its growth.
Be Part of the Shop Local Campaign
Are you a local business owner? As part of our Shop Local campaign, we’re hosting a Shop Local Deals directory where Edmontonians can find great promotions and offers at local businesses. The directory offers Edmontonians the opportunity to benefit from shopping locally while driving more business to our local entrepreneurs. Submit your deal any time from now until December 2025.
Businesses must submit an application and meet the following specific eligibility criteria to be listed on the City of Edmonton's (the “City”) Shop Local Deals directory (the “Directory”), which is published on the City’s public website:
- Locally operated
- Located within City limits
Applicants must complete and submit the registration form and provide accurate business information, including name, address and phone number. Submissions will be reviewed for eligibility to ensure fairness and compliance with the program's parameters. The City reserves the right in its sole and unfettered discretion to decline applications that do not meet these criteria. All decisions are final and cannot be disputed.
By submitting a registration form, participants agree to all of the following terms and conditions in order to be included in the Directory:
- Participants consent to the City listing the provided business information, including the business name, address, and phone number, on the Directory and publishing it on the City’s public website
- Participants acknowledge that the City is not responsible for any loss, damage, or injury that participants may have as a result of the participant’s use of, or inclusion in, the Directory and the City’s public website
- Participants agree to all of the additional terms and conditions regarding the use of the City’s website
Reference to, or links to, any specific business, product, service, or organization in the Directory or on the City’s public website does not constitute or imply endorsement, recommendation, or favouring by the City. The City provides this information solely for educational and informational purposes. Inclusion in the Directory or on the City’s public website does not imply endorsement or recommendation by the City. The Directory is intended solely to promote local businesses and provide citizens with information about Edmonton-based services. The City assumes no responsibility for the quality or reliability of the Directory’s listed businesses.
Benefits of Shopping Locally
Shopping local is easy as Edmonton is home to over 38,000 businesses, with 95% being small businesses. It’s also a key part of community building since for every $100 spent at a small business, $66 stays in the local economy.
Spending money at a local business is just one way to support our entrepreneurs. Other ways to show support include sharing content and engaging on social media, leaving a positive review and recommending stores to family and friends.
