The High Level Bridge has 60,000 LED bulbs and is lit every day. The state-of-the-art system can change the colour of the bridge lights and is available by request.
Lighting the High Level Bridge is intended to promote community spirit and to build a sense of community. Specialty lighting allows the City of Edmonton to recognize events of international significance, cultural events and celebrations and tributes for well documented local, provincial and national figures.
Requests to program the colours of the High Level Bridge must be received at least 3 weeks before the requested date. Please ensure your preferred date is available before applying and that the event has not already been observed during the year.

Other Recognized Lighting Events
The hours of the bridge lights change with the seasons.
The City of Edmonton, Civic Events Office selects and approves the colours of the bridge lights.
Since the bridge is not a solid surface, messages cannot be written as there is nowhere for words to appear.
Confirmed requests may be modified, cancelled or rescheduled if a situation of civic, provincial, national or international importance occurs that requires the bridge to be lit in acknowledgement of the emergent situation.
